Hasaacas Ladies were held to a goalless draw by newly promoted Oak Ladies in their 2025/26 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League opener at the Pobiman Complex on Saturday.
Despite dominating possession for large spells, the five-time champions couldn’t find a way past a resolute Oak Ladies defence that looked well-drilled and determined on their debut.
Hasaacas created several promising chances, particularly in the second half, but poor finishing and some inspired goalkeeping from the home side denied them an opening-day victory.
New head coach Raymond Fenny will take some positives from the performance, especially the team’s control in midfield and defensive organisation.
However, he’ll know there’s work to be done in the attacking third if Hasaacas Ladies are to mount a serious title challenge this season.
For Oak Ladies, the result marks an encouraging start to life in the top flight; a point earned, and confidence gained, against one of Ghana’s most decorated women’s football clubs.
