Veronica Appiah Bags Brace as Hasmal Beat Police Ladies 3-0 to win Southern Zone

Veronica Appiah scored brace as Hasmal Ladies beat Police Ladies 3-0 to finish champions of the Southern Zone of the 2020/2021 Women’s Premier League.

The 28 shirted attacker scored at either half of the game to ensure Hasmal had a comfortable 3-0 win against Police Ladies FC.

Coach Yusif Basigi started with the most used starting lineup for the second round; Grace Banwah started in poles, Queenabel Amankwah and Comfort Owusu on either side of the flanks and between them were Janet Egyir and Regina Antwi.

Azumah Bugre, Faustina Nyame Aidoo and Evelyn Badu formed the midfield trio and in front of them were Milot Pokuaa, Veronica Appiah and Doris Boaduwaa.

After a closely contested first half; Veronica Appiah turned in a rebound over the reach of goalkeeper, Fafali Dumaheshi to open the score cards.

The goal ended the first department of the game with the Giants having a slim lead into the tunnel.

The second half started with a Doris Boaduwaa goal in the early embers of the game; she forced a powerful low strike over the full stretched arm of Fafali Dumaheshi.

Veronica added her second and the third goal of the day to end the game 3-0.

The team firmed up and held its back close to ensure the game went our way.

What it means

The victory means Hasmal Ladies are winners of the Southern Zone with a game to spare at 33 points, 5 points between second placed Berry Ladies FC.

The team is currently the winners of the Southern Zone and will be setting up a final game against Ampem Darkoa Ladies on July 5, 2021.
